12th Tirupati Book Festival

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, known for its Culture and Heritage has organized the prestigious 12th Tirupati Book Festival from 3 rd February,2018 to 11th February, 2018 at S.V. High School Play Orounds, Tirupati to inculcate reading habit among the public especially the Youth.

Nearly publishers from all parts of India had put up more than 80 stalls at the venue. Bome or the publications were Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Publications, Praja Sakthi, Visalandhra, EMESCO, Supreme Law House, Sri Ramakrishna Vivekananda Publications, A.C.E.Engineering etc.

A wide range of books on Spirituality, Philosophy, Science, Engineering, Medical, Law and varied number of books in Telugu, Hindi and English were available for the students, academicians and book lovers, Dr N.Satyanarayana Raju, Convenor of the Book Festival and Hon. Director and Treasurer, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Tirupati. Prof P.Sudhakara Reddy, Secretary, Dr.Alladi Mohan, Associate Secretary and other Executive Committee Members of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Tirupati Kendra and the Staff of Bhavan's 8.V. Vidyalaya, brought the holy scriptures such as the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, the Bhagavad Gita ete in a Palanquin in a procession from Mahathi Auditorium to the venue. Bri Mandali Buddha Prasad, Deputy Speaker, Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and Dr P.C.Deshmukh, Professor of Physics, LI.T., Tirupati inaugurated the Festival at 5.00 p.m. on 3rd February, 2018.

The Convenor of the Festival Dr N.Satyanarayana Raju, in his Presidential Address said that, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Tirupati Kendra has started the Tirupati Book Festival in 2006 for the First time and in successfully continuing for the past 12 years. The objective of organizing it in to encourage the book reading habit. The Chief Guest Sri Mandali Buddha Prasad quoted PUSTHAKAM HASTHA BHUSHANAM" and expressed that good books influence people and will help them succeed and reach great heights.


The felicitation of the Guests was followed by Vote of Thanks by Prof P.Sudhakara Roddy, Secretary, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Tirupati Kendra.

On 4th February, 2018 i.e, the 20 day of the Book Festival, Sangeetha Vidwan, Dr A.Sabari Irish, Head of the Department of Vocal Music, S.V.Music College, Tirupati and Flute.

Vidwan Dr M.Anantha Krishna, Head of Department of Flute, S.V.Music College. Tirupati were the Chief Guests. They recalled the Sri Sripada Pinakapani and Sri Prapancham Sitaram, the renowned Musicians and their contributions to the world of Music.

The 9 day Pustaka Brahmotsavam went on smoothly with interesting platforms such as 'Sri Sripada Pinakapani and Sri Prapancham Sitaram Vedika, Sister Nivedita Vedika, Sir C.P.Brown Vedika, Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba Vedika allocated for each day, On messages on spirituality and awakening of the inner self for a better society were given by Swami Gautamanandaji, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama. Tirupati and Sri Samudrala Lakshmaiah, Special Officer. Purana Ithihasa Project, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, Tirupati.

Geyavadhanam by Dr Velugoti Bhaskar Sai Krishna Yechandra, Ex.M.L.A Venkatagiri release of three books "Bharatavani Saraswathi Nagaricata penned by Prof Rani Sadasiva Murthy 'Karunakumara' by Prof Ch.Govinda Raju "Saregamapa' by Medico Shyam made this year's Book Festival a memorable one. Every evening the 9 day festival, was made pleasant with special cultural programmes by the students and staff of Bhavan’s S.V.Vidyalaya, Tirupati. To bring out the hidden talent in the youth, various competitions like Quiz, Recitations, Elocutions etc were conducted.

The Book Festival came to a closure on 17th February 2018. In his Presidential address the Convenor reflected, on the 9 day Pustaka Brahmotsavalu' and elucidated the objective of the Book Festival. Prof V.Muralidhara Sarma, Vice Chancellor, Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Tirupati as Chief Guest. Prof D.M.Mamatha, Registrar, Sri Padmavathi Mahila Viswavidyalayam, Tirupati and Prof Adluru Raghurama Raju as Guests of Honour, graced the Valedictory Function.

Prizes were distributed to the winners of the various competitions conducted. The guests were felicitated by the Director, the Executive Committee members and other dignitaries.

The programme concluded with the proposal of Vote of Thanks by Dr Alladi Mohan, Associate Secretary, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Tirupati Kendra.
