4th Book Festival

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, known for its commitment to the traditional roots, organized a Ten-Day Book Festival at Thyagaraja Mandapam in Tirupati for the benifit of book lovers, from 22nd January, 2010 to 31st January, 2010. Not only locals, but the ardent readers from across the district were thronging into all 45 stalls in large numbers.

Sri.K.Lakshmi Reddy, Superintendent of Police, Chittoor District inaugurated the festival.Dr.N.Satyanarayana Raju, Hony.Director and Treasurer, Bhavan's Tirupati kendra welcomed the guests and the audience and expounded the objectives of the festival. Sri.P.V.Krishna Reddy, Executive Vice-Chairman, Bhavan's Tirupati kendra presided over the festival.

Sri N.K.Raja Rao, in his speech mentioned that Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is named as Book University as it brings many publications. Speaking on his occasion Sri.Lakshmi Reddy , stated that book is the best guide, friend and philosopher and inferred that the urgent need of the society.

The guest of honour, Sri.Medasani Mohan emphasized the need to inculcate book reading among children so that they can imbibe positive values. Prof.P.Sudhakar Reddy, Hon.Secretary, Bhavan's Tirupati kendra thanked the gathering for their encouragement and support, musicians from Annamacharya Project president musical concert. The mimicry and magic show by Sri.Vijaya Kumar on the eighth day drew large crowds.

The ten-Day-festival, came to an end on 31st January, 2010. The valedictory function began with musical concert by the students of the Vidyalaya. Following the concert the students and staff of the school joined in a rally campaigning against Alcohol and Smoking. After the rally, a meeting was organized. Dr.N.Satyanarayana Raju presided over the meeting.Sri.P.Sudarsana Raju welcomed the guests and the audience.Dr.N.Yuva Raj,I.A.S., Joint Executive Officer, T.T.D was the chief guest of the day.

Dr.N.Satyanarayana Raju, in his presidential address, insisted upon the main objectives of Bhavan to promote the rich culture and value of our country. He emphasized on the importance of organizing the book festival. He also mentioned that every institution and the teaching staff should take up the respnsibility of bringing change for the betterment of the society. In this connection Bhavanites wished to be the pioneers of making Tirupati a holy place, free from alcohol and tobacco. Sri.N.Satyanarayana Raju appreciated Sri N.K.Rao, Convenor and Sri A.Satish, Co-Convenor for their efforts in making the Fourth Tirupati Book festival successful.
