The month of Sravana has its own significance. This month brings out a festive mood among the people and promotes spiritually. Moreover it bestows seeds health, wealth and contentment.

Sravana Sangeetha Lahari was organized by Bhavan's Tirupati Kendra on 26th and 27th August 2010 with the objective to inculcate awareness among the younger generation about our rich cultural eritage through the medium of fine arts. This year the Sangeetham in Sravana, a music and dance festival, was staged for two days on the school campus.

The first day's programme began with the welcome note delivered by Dr.N.Satyanarayana Raju, Hony.Director & Treasurer. He introduced the day's Chief guest renouned vocalist and composer, Padmavibhushan Dr. Mangalampallil Balamurali Krishna to the audience. In his address, he emphasized that one of the objectives of Bhavan's is revitalilzation of Culture and to assimilate ancient knowledge with modern education. Sri I.Y.R. Krishna Rao, I.A.S., Executive Officer, T.T.D. and Chairman, Bhavan's Tirupati Kendra presided over the function and appreciated the efforts of the committee members for constructing the auditorium. The other committee members graced the occasion. The Chief Guest inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp.

Padmavibhushan Dr. Mangalampallil Balamurali Krishna was felicitated by the Chairman with a floral crown in the midst of Vedic chanting and the Bhavan's Executive Committe members. In his valuable speech Dr. Mangalampallil Balamurali Krishna said that he is very much associated with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan world wide as an honourable member of the organization. He expressed his happiness, on being associated with this function and said that he would be with the Bhavan's as long as he could sing. He expressed his desire to perform on the stage during his next visit. He concluded his message with a melodious hymn in praise of Lord Venkateswara.

The much awaited entertainment programme began with the dance "Pushpanjali" followed by Ganapathi Kowthvam. The day's cultural programme was based on the concept "Nava Vidha Bhakthi" - different types of devotion in the form "Shravanam, Vandanam, Keerthanam, Smaranam, Sakhyam, Dasyam, Bhajanam, Archanam and Atmanivedanam". The students presented melodious compositions of great musicians llike Sri Thyagaraja, Sri Annamayya, Bhakta Ramadas, Narayana Theertha, Dr.M. Balamurali Krishna and allured the audience.

The second day's programme begin with the welcome speech by Smt. R. Vanisree. Kum. K. Priyanka of Class IX spoke on the significance of the day. An Inter House competition in Music and Dance was held on that day.

Sri P.V. Krishna Reddy, Executive Vice Chairman presided over the function. I/c. Principal, Smt. K. Hymavathi introduced the Chief Guest Dr. B. Vengamma, Director, SVIMS, to the gathering.

Each house presented a report about the achievements of their respective houses and presented a patriotic song, a folk song and a Thillana. Around 500 students took part in the two day's programme.

The Guest of the day Dr. B. Vengamma, Director, SVIMS appreciated the first day's programme and the efforts of the institution in providing a lot of scope for promoting cultural vales. Dr. Vengamma expressed that participating in co-curricular activities contribute for the integrated development of the child. She requested the parents to encourage their children to inculcate values and respect for our cultural heritage. She said that Music and Dance improves memory power, good communication skills good interaction skills, socially and emotionally. She stated that a child who is only good at studies may become isolated in the societ. She stressed that both academics and co-curricular activities are essential for the all round development of a child.

In the Music and Dance Competition Bhishma House, Abhimanyu House were declared Winners. Abhimanyu, Arjun and Karna were the runners in patriotic song, folk song and Thillana (Dance) respectively.

The programme came to after awarding certificates to the participants. The spell bound performance of the participants mesmerized the viewers.

The twin day programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by the Vice-Prinicipal     Smt. V. Sujatha.
